The Use of Corpus in Analysis of News in Digital Media

e technological developments that transform our era have created the informa tion society. ese technological innovations allowed people to access unlimited information, made collecting and processing massive data and the analyzing news over it possible. also have changed the journalistic practices. is e media-mediated news are also ideological discourses rebuilt by media professionals. Media is an area of research that needs to be ana lyzed in di erent ways as it is an important tool to rebuild the news and it has the power of guidance. e analysis of the news, which is also the memory of history, provides the visibility of the linguistic structure and ideological discourse used. Corpus based studies over these huge data allows ease of access to reach comprehensive and systematic data. As baker states, the newspaper data is clearly a very useful area of producing and reproducing discourses. e historical background of corpus linguistic studies dates back to 19th century.
