Alpha Rhythm of the EEG Modulates Visual Detection Performance in Humans

The effects of the changes in the frequency spectrum of the electroencephalogram (EEG) on the perception of near-threshold visual stimuli and on the event-related potentials (ERPs) produced by these stimuli were investigated on 12 healthy volunteers. The stimulus intensity, at which each subject could detect 50% of the presented stimuli, was defined as the sensory threshold for that subject. Single ERP trials were separated into two groups: trials with detected and undetected stimuli. The ERPs and the average power spectra of the 1 s prestimulus periods were computed for both conditions. Mersin Körfezinde Yakalanan Sparus aurata L 1758 ve Mullus barbatus L 1758 un Kas ve Karaciğer Dokularındaki Kadmiyum Düzeylerinin Karşılaştırılması

Mersin Körfezi'nden yakalanan Sparus aurata (L. 1758) ve Mullus barbatus (L. 1758) türü balıkların kas ve karaciğer dokularındaki kadmiyum düzeyleri belirlenerek karşılaştırılmıştır. Doku örneklerindeki kadmiyumun analizinde atomik absorbsiyon spektrofotometresi kullanılmıştır. Her iki türde de kas dokusuna göre karaciğer dokusunun daha fazla kadmiyum içerdiği belirlenmiştir. M. barbatus'un kas dokusunda daha fazla kadmiyum ölçüldüğünden, kas dokusu kadmiyum düzeyi bakımından türler arasındaki fark istatistik ayrım gösterecek düzeydedir. Responses of antioxidant defense system of Helianthus annuus to abscisic acid treatment under drought and waterlogging.

The effect of abscisic acid (ABA) treatment on growth pigments and antioxidant defense system were in vestigated in seedlings of Helianthus annuus (cvs. Nantio F1 and Özde mirbey) subjected to drought and waterlogging stress. In addition, seedlings were sprayed with 10 µM ABA three times every other day. Reltive growth rate (RGR) was significantly reduced in both genotypes under drought stress, however, this growth inhibition was less in ABA-treated plants. Total chlorophyll content increased by drought stress in both gentypes. Ascorbate was not influenced by drought, while α-tocopherol in creased in cv. Nantio F1.
