In this study, the fauna of Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea (Lepidoptera) from the Amanos Mountains in İslahiye, Gaziantep province, Turkey has been investigated. Information obtained froma series of field studies carried out during 2006–2007 is given. Collection of butterfly specimens was carried out in 55 different localities for this study. A total of 2276 specimens belonging to 76 species distributed in 48 genera within five families were collected. The distribution of species, according to families, is as follows: Papilionidae, five; Pieridae, 13; Nymphalidae, 28; Lycaenidae, 18 and Hesperiidae, 12. In this study, the fauna of diurnal and nocturnal Lepidoptera from the Darbo˘gaz, Bolkar Mountains in Ulukıs¸la, Ni˘gde province in the south of the Anatolian region of Turkey has been investigated. A faunistic and ecological study on Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea (Lepidoptera) of Sultandağları Mountains (Afyonkarahisar/Turkey)

In this study, the fauna of Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea (Lepidoptera) from Sultandağları Mountains, Afyonkarahisar province, in Turkey were investigated. Field collections were conducted between March and August from 1997 to 2001. Individuals were collected from 110 field surveys. The specimens belonged to 131 species in seven families, including Papilionidae (6 species), Pieridae (17), Libytheidae (1), Argynnidae (21), Satyridae (24), Lycaenidae (45), and Hesperiidae (17). Tomares nesimachus (Oberthür, 1893) was identified for the first time in Afyonkarahisar and fourteen of the 131 species were new records for the Lepidoptera fauna of Sultandağları Mountains.

Bu çalışma, Osmaniye ilinde arazi ve laboratuvar çalışmaları şeklinde yürütülmüştür. Nocuidae familyasına ait Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner, [1808]), Chrysodeixis chalcites (Esper, [1789]) ve Sphingidae familyasına ait Daphnis nerii, Osmaniye’de değişik bitki örtüsüne sahip çeşitli yüksekliklerdeki lokalitelerden cıva buharlı ışık tuzağı ve beyaz perde ile yakalandı. Helicoverpa armigera’dan toplam 3 erkek, 3 dişi, Chrysodeixis chalcites’den toplam 5 erkek ve Daphnis nerii’den bir erkek ve bir dişi toplanmıştır. Faunistic study on Lepidoptera from different regions of Anatolia, Turkey

This study was carried out in Ankara, Antalya, Denizli, Isparta, Istanbul, Kırşehir, Konya, Malatya, Nevşehir and Ordu (Turkey), during the years of 2003-2006 in order to collect data on Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea species, their distribution and current status. Butterflies samples were caught with sweep nets from 18 localities during the field work. 77 species belonging to 6 families and 2 super families were identified. According to identification results the numbers of species (belonging to families) were given as: Papilionidae (3); Pieridae (13); Argynnidae (12); Satyridae (22); Lycaenidae (22) and Hesperiidae (5).

This study was conducted in field and laboratory. Nemophora fascielle (Fabricius, 1775) (Adelidae) and Endothenia sororiana (Herrich-Schaffer, 1851) (Tortricidae) were caught with insect net, mercury vapour light trap and white screen, at different altitudes, with various vegetation in Hatay. In the field studies, N. fascielle totally 3 male and 2 female, and E. sororiana totally 5 male and 1 female were collected. Specimens were dissected in the laboratory and prepared male genitalia and wings slides. We described the external and male genital morphology of N. fascielle and E. sororiana in detail and also diagnostical morphological features. A Faunistic Study on Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea (Lepidoptera) of Murat Mountain in Banaz, UŞAK Province, Turkey

This study was carried out in Murat Mountain located in Banaz district (Uşak, Western Turkey), during 2000-2009 in order to collect data on Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea species, their distribution and current status. Butterflies (756) were caught with sweep nets from 28 localities during the field work of which 113 species and subspecies belonging to 7 families and 2 superfamilies were identified; 87 species were identified for the first time for Lepidoptera fauna of Uşak province and 103 species were identified for the first time for Murat Mountain (Banaz) fauna.

A Faunistic Study of Papilionoidea (Lepidoptera) of the Western Taurus Mountains, Turkey

In this study, the fauna of Papilionoidea (Lepidoptera) (sensu vanNieukerken et al., 2011) in West Taurus (Southern Turkey) has been investigated. Field studies were carried out during the years 2004–2009. Specimens of butterflies were collected from 43 different localities for this study. These specimens belong to 125 species distributed in 5 families. The distribution of species (by families) was given as: Papilionidae (5); Pieridae (14); Nymphalidae (45); Lycaenidae (44) and Hesperiidae (17). A review of the relevant literature revealed that 92 of 125 species determined in this study are newly recorded for the Lepidoptera fauna of Anamur and all of them are new for the study area.

Bu çalışmada, Hatay ilinin farklı yüksekliklerdeki değişik bitki örtüsüne sahip lokalitelerinden toplanan Hesperiidae faimilyasına ait 9 türün (Ochlodes venatus, Gegenes pumilio, Pyrgus melotis, Pyrgus serratulae, Spialia orbifer, Spialia phlomidis, Erynnis tages, Carcharodus orientalis, Carcharodus alceae) erkek genital preparatları hazırlanarak türlerin morfolojileri tarif edilmiştir. Hatmi Zıpzıpının (Carcharodus alceae) erkek genital organı İspanya, Hollanda, Afganistan ve Fransa’dan verilen literatür ile karşılaştırıldı. Carcharodus alceae’e ait erkek genital organı ve variyasyonlar bu çalışmada verilmiştir.

Bu çalışmada, Türkiye’nin Akdeniz bölgesinin doğusunda bulunan Osmaniye İlinde, gece ve gündüz aktif olan Lepidoptera takımı üzerine bir araştırma yapılmıştır. Arazi çalışmaları 2006-2008 yıllarında gerçekleşmiştir. Bu çalışma için gündüz ve gece arazi çalışmaları sırasında atrap ve ışık tuzakları kullanarak, altı farklı lokaliteden toplam 407 örnek toplanmıştır. Bu örneklerden, 56 tür gündüz ve 31 tür ise gece aktif olan Lepidoptera takımına ait türler olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Lepidoptera fauna in Akdağmadeni region of Yozgat, Turkey

The histories of the researches on the Lepidoptera of Yozgat are given. This study was carried out in Akdağlar located in Akdağmadeni district (Yozgat, Turkey), during the years 1999 to 2000. The study aimed to collect data on Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea species, their distribution and current status. Butterflies samples were caught with sweep nets from 43 localities during the field work. 121 species belonging to seven families and two super families were identified. 74 out of 121 species which were identified in this study are first records for the Lepidoptera fauna of Akdağmadeni and 25 out of them are first records for Yozgat province. According to literature review and collection of data, 139 species recorded from Yozgat were evaluated.

In this study, the fauna of Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea (Lepidoptera) from Göksu Valley, Mut district, in the Mediterranean region of Southern Turkey were investigated. Field collections were conducted between April and August from 2007–2009. Individuals were collected from 58 field surveys. The specimens belonged to 131 species in five families, including Papilionidae (6 species), Pieridae (16), Nymphalidae (42), Lycaenidae (53), and Hesperiidae (14). Fifty-nine of the 131 species were new records for the Lepidoptera fauna of Mut.

In this study, the fauna of Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea (Lepidoptera) in Aegean region (Southwest Turkey) has been investigated. Information regarding field studies which were carried out during years 2003 and 2004 was given. The specimens of the order Lepidoptera have been collected from 35 different localities. It has been determined that these specimens are belonging to 87 species distributed in 7 families. The distribution of species (according to families) were given as: Papilionidae (3); Pieridae (12); Libytheidae (1); Argynnidae (11); Satyridae (18); Lycaenidae (25) and Hesperiidae (8).
