Phenolic acid and flavonoid diversity in four Eucalyptus species

The economic importance of Eucalyptus trees is due to their rapid growth and high biomass productivity, as well as the beneficial chemical compounds found in their various tissues. Eucalyptus cultivation is common in the southern part of Turkey, especially in the coastal areas of the Mediterranean. In this study, phenolic acids and flavonoids were analyzed in methanol extracts leaf tissues of four eucalyptus species by HPLC. Fifteen different phenolic compounds were determined in the leaf tissues of the four Eucalyptus species examined. The highest total phenolic amounts were found in E. botryoides (160.56 mg g-1DW), followed by E. tereticornis (66.47 mg g⁻¹ DW) and E. citriodora (64.02 mg g⁻¹ DW). Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, hisseleri Borsa İstanbul’da işlem gören turizm şirketlerinin dikey analiz yöntemi ile finansal performanslarını ortaya koymak ve turizm sektörü ile bir karşılaştırma yapmaktır. Çalışmada, hisseleri Borsa İstanbul’da (BIST) işlem gören turizm şirketlerinin 2014 yılına ait finansal tabloları ve Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası (TCMB)’nın yayımladığı konaklama ve yiyecek hizmeti faaliyetleri alt sektörünün 2014 yılına ait finansal tabloları dikey analiz yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda, sahip olduğumuz bu kültürel mirasın korunması ve gelecek nesillere ulaştırılması oldukça önem arz etmektedir. 6 Şubat 2023 Kahramanmaraş depremleri sonrasında, birçok depremzede, yakınlarını kaybetmiş, evleri hasar görmüş ve yaşadıkları kentleri terk etmek zorunda kalmıştır. Mersin ise deprem bölgesine yakınlığı nedeniyle en yoğun göç alan şehirlerden biri olmuştur. Deprem sonrası ihtiyaçların karşılanması amacıyla hükümet, yerel yönetimler, sivil toplum kuruluşları ve gönüllüler yoğun çaba göstermiştir. Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi de açtığı barınma merkezleriyle bu çabalara katkıda bulunmuştur. The effect of different flight heights on generated digital products: DSM and Orthophoto

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) allows you to create digital surface models (DSM) and orthophotos of an area in a short time by photogrammetric methods. In the last decade, UAV and Global Positioning System (GPS) have been used to create real, reliable and high-resolution maps. In this study, the effect of flight height on DSM and orthophoto was investigated. Two flight plans at a height of 30 to 50 meters were prepared. Images taken with UAV were used to produce DSM and orthophoto. Resolution of maps were compared when models were produced. Compared to a flight height of 50 meters, a more detailed and high-resolution model was created with 30 meters. Effects of Chromium on the Hematocrit Levels and Erythrocyte Numbers of Cyprinus carpio

Changes in hematocrit levels and erythrocyte numbers of Cyprinus carpio were determined after exposing the animals to 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 ppm chromium over 7, 15 and 30 days. Microhematocrit and hemocytometric methods were used for determining hematocrit levels and erythrocyte numbers respectively. No mortality was observed during the experiments. Hematocrit levels and erythrocyt numbers increased under the effect of metal on day 15. Hematocrit levels and erythtrocyte numbers decreased by increasing exposure periods except at 0.5 ppm chromium.
Mapping of a rockfall site with an unmanned aerial vehicle

The combination of geological, topographical and climatic conditions causes mass movements. Rockfall, which is a frequently seen disaster at mountainous regions, gives damage to residential areas and transportation corridors. Rockfall barriers are being designed to capture falling rocks worldwide. The classical method applied in rockfall analysis is 3D modelling of the study area to determine rockfall trajectory with the help of Digital surface model (DSM). 3D rockfall simulation is performed in order to determine bounce height, maximum run-out distance and kinetic energy of rocks. First Record of the Pempheris rhomboidea (Kossmann Räuber, 1877) from Mersin Bay, Northeastern Mediterranean Sea

In this study, eight individuals of Pempheris rhomboidea (Kossmann & Räuber, 1877) were for the first time caught in the Mersin Bay, Northeastern Mediterranean Sea. Some morphometric and meristic characters of these individuals were measured. The average standard length (SL): 90.13 mm, total length (TL): 112.62 mm, the length of longest pectoral fin (LPF): 25.88 mm, the length of longest dorsal fin ray (LDF): 21.25 mm, SL/LPF: 3.88, SL/LDF: 4.24, A: III, 39-42; D: VI, 9; LL pore scales: 55-58. The ratio of eye diameter (ED) to standard length (SL) is 7.95. The presence of the non-indigenous Pempheris rhomboidea was reported for the first time from Northeastern Mediterranean Sea and second time fromTurkish marine waters.

Araştırmada bakır (Cu), çinko (Zn),kurşun (Pb) ve kadmiyum (Cd)’un 96 saatlik LC50 değerinin %10’unakarşılık gelen sırasıyla 4.0, 6.0, 0.2 ve 1.6 ppm ortam derişimlerinin 7, 15 ve30 gün sürelerle etkisine bırakılan Oreochromis niloticus’un serumglukoz, total protein, albumin, D-Bilirubin, aspartat aminotransferaz (AST),alanin aminotransferaz (ALT) ve total kolesterol düzeylerinde meydana gelendeğişimler belirlenmiştir. Two mature individuals of Trypauchen vagina were caught by trawl fishing at 30 m depth in the Mersin coastal areas in September 2018. Meristic and morphometric measurements of the individuals were done and compared with its measurements reported in other studies. In previous studies; one record from Mersin Bay and in totally three records of T. vagina in the Northeastern Mediterranean Sea were reported. In this study, the second record of T. vagina was reported from Mersin Bay.

Occurrence of the lesser spotted dogfish (Scyliorhinus caniculaLinnaeus 1758) in the international waters of Mersin Bay, Turkey

Eighty-five specimens of the lesser spotted dogfish, Scyliorhinus canicula Linnaeus, 1758, was caught by a bottom trawl in the international waters of the Mersin Bay in May 2018. Some of the caught individuals were preserved in 4% formalin and was deposited in the Museum of the Systematic, Faculty of Fisheries, Mersin University, (catalogue number: MEUFC-18-11-079). The depth of sampling area is between 274 and 641 m. A total of 13 trawling operations were carried out. The total number of caught individuals was 85 and on average 5 individuals were caught in each operation. Some deep-sea decapod crustaceans from the international waters of Mersin Bay(North Levant Basin, Turkey)

The deep-see decapod crustacean species sampled from trawling operations carried out in the open waters of Mersin Bay (Coordinates: 36.24853N-34.36491E, 36.18839N-43.38847E, 36.17065N-34.40686E, and 36.07227N34.53326E) in May 2018 were identified. Samples were preserved in ethyl alcohol and were deposited in the Museum of the Systematic, Faculty of Fisheries, Mersin University, (catalogue number: MEUDC-17-11-001, MEUDC-18-12- 010-014).
