In this study, the conceptual structures of the Turkish motion verb çek- (to pull) were analyzed within the framework of Jackendoff's (1983, 1990) Conceptual Structure Theory. To this end, different lexicalizations and conceptual structures of the verb çek- were examined, demonstrating that it retains its basic meaning in different usages. The database created to analyze the different uses and polysemous structure of the verb was examined using “semantic paraphrasing” and “completion tests” based on the judgments of native Turkish speakers. The conceptual structures of the verb were examined under two main headings: The spatial semantic field and the non-spatial semantic field.
