Cultural competence is defined as having the attitudes, knowledge and skills that are necessary for providing quality care to culturally different groups; in other words, it is the capacity to provide culturally satisfactory care (Douglas et al., 2009; Loftin et al., 2013). To be able to provide a culturally satisfactory care service, it is necessary to know the culture of the people to whom the service is being delivered because culture influences all health-related behaviors. This involves experiencing various difficulties when providing culturally responsive care in all stages of service provision in the healthcare system.
