e technological developments that transform our era have created the informa tion society. ese technological innovations allowed people to access unlimited information, made collecting and processing massive data and the analyzing news over it possible. also have changed the journalistic practices. is e media-mediated news are also ideological discourses rebuilt by media professionals. Media is an area of research that needs to be ana lyzed in di erent ways as it is an important tool to rebuild the news and it has the power of guidance. e analysis of the news, which is also the memory of history, provides the visibility of the linguistic structure and ideological discourse used. Corpus based studies over these huge data allows ease of access to reach comprehensive and systematic data. As baker states, the newspaper data is clearly a very useful area of producing and reproducing discourses. e historical background of corpus linguistic studies dates back to 19th century. By early 1960’s, digitalized corpora began to appear. Later, in 1980’s, corpus linguistics studies evolved to an inter-disciplinary form. Some techniques, such as frequency lists, concordances, collocations, keywords, sorting, part-of-speech and morphological analyses queries mentioned in literature (Firth: 1957, Biber et al: 1998, Baker: 2006, McEnery: 1996, Sinclair: 1991 and others) are used as samples in this study. is study aims to present how the techniques and methods, which are generally used in corpus linguistics, used to run discourse and content analyses over news in Turkish press, by samples over corpora that derives data from Turkish newspapers, released under TS Corpus project. From a macro perspective, hybrid applications of corpus linguistics and news analysis methods are presented in this study.
