The selective recognition of ions is important because of their role in chemical and biological fields and
their environmental pollutant effects [1-2]. The ions can be analysed using various instruments which
require high cost and long time. In recent years, intensive studies have been carried out to develop
chemosensors with low cost, fast response and high selectivity and sensitivity as an alternative to these
expensive devices [3]. The ion-dipole, π-π*, electrostatic, H-bonds etc. play an important role in
chemosensor interactions, and nitrogen atoms in the molecular structure of the triazole core allow these
interactions to take place [3-5]. For this reason, compounds-containing triazole core have been
intensively studied in recent years [6]. In this study, bis-triazoles were synthesized with the click
chemistry and their molecular structures were characterized using NMR, FT-IR and HRMS techniques.
The ion recognition and sensing properties of the bis-triazoles were investigated by UV–VIS absorption
spectroscopy in organic media upon the addition of various anions such as AcO−, ClO4−, H2PO4−, HSO4−,
CN−, NO3−. F−, Cl−, Br− and I− ions. Colorimetric studies showed that the colourless solution changed
colour with the addition of fluoride and cyanide.
