Psychological skills and their educational outcomes in adolescence: self-regulation, time management, and academic self-efficacy

The primary objective of this study is to investigate the relationships between the fundamental psychological concepts that influence university students' academic self-efficacy. Specifically, the direct and indirect interactions between self-regulation, time management, and academic selfefficacy were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The study was conducted with a sample of 450 undergraduate students enrolled at a public university in Turkey utilizing a quantitative research design. Findings revealed that self-regulation was strongly associated with time management, which was in turn significantly related to academic selfefficacy. Furthermore, results indicated that self-regulation was directly and indirectly associated with academic self-efficacy through time management. Correlation analyses supported significant and positive relationships among all variables. Collectively, these results highlight the important role of behavioral regulation skills in relation to academic selfefficacy. The study highlights the imperative for educational contexts to foster both time management skills and self-regulation competencies, suggesting that a comprehensive, integrative approach to these interrelated constructs is essential for optimizing students’ academic ...

Bu araştırma Mersin Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi Din Kültürü ve Ahlak Bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının araştırma yeterliklerine ilişkin görüşlerini tespit etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu araştırmada, sıralı açıklayıcı karma desen kullanılmıştır. Nicel aşamada, genel tarama modeli ve nitel aşamada, fenomenolojik desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini, Mersin Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesinde okuyan 409 DKAB öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın nicel örneklemi 351 katılımcıdan oluşmuştur. Araştırmanın nitel örneklemi 40 katılımcıdan oluşmuştur. Araştırmada Araştırma Yeterlikleri Ölçeği ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde t-testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi ve içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmada katılımcıların araştırma yeterliklerinin orta düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırma deneyimi olma, araştırma teknikleri dersini alma durumu, yaş ve sınıf düzeyi değişkenleri açısından anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur. Katılımcıların çoğu, öğretmen adaylarından kaynaklanan nedenlerin öğretmen adaylarının araştırma yeterliklerinin çok yüksek düzeyde olmamasının nedenleri olduğunu ifade etmiştir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Din Kültürü ve Ahlak Bilgisi (DKAB) öğretmenlerinin etik liderlik davranışlarının sınıf yönetimi üzerindeki etkisi hakkındaki görüşlerini incelemektir. Bu çalışmada, fenomenolojik yöntem ve amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden maksimum çeşitlilik örneklemesi kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubu, 2024- 2025 eğitim-öğretim yarıyılında Mersin merkez ilçelerindeki resmi ortaokul ve liselerde çalışan 42 DKAB öğretmeninden oluşmaktadır. Görüşme formları ile toplanan veriler içerik analizi yöntemine göre analiz edilmiştir. Katılımcıların sorulara verdikleri cevaplar incelenmiş ve benzer özelliklere sahip kodlar bir araya getirilerek temalar ve alt temalar oluşturulmuştur. Bu çalışmada katılımcılar çoğunlukla öğretmen liderliğini, pedagojik liderlik alanıyla ilgili olan öğrenci öğrenmesini sağlama, öğrenci başarısını artırma ve etik liderlik alanıyla ilgili olan rehberlik etme kavramlarıyla tanımlamışlardır. Educational organizations need teachers with high cultural intelligence (CQ) to efficiently fulfill their education-related tasks. CQ refers to an individual's ability to effectively communicate, act, and succeed in culturally diverse environments. Religious Culture and Ethics (RCE) teachers need to possess a high level of CQ to participate in international projects, fulfill overseas assignments, and conduct educational activities for children of refugees from different countries. It is vital for teachers in the RCE field, whose aim is to foster tolerance and understanding toward other religions and cultures among students, to have a high level of CQ. A proper religious education will contribute to individuals from different cultures living together with respect and love, and being tolerant toward one another. The researchers have not encountered any Turkish studies examining the CQ levels of RCE teachers. The aim of this study is to determine whether there are significant differences in the burnout levels of high school teachers in the province of Mersin based on gender, professional seniority, age, and educational level. In line with the stated objective, the following research questions were addressed: 1. Do the burnout levels of high school teachers in Mersin significantly differ according to the gender variable? 2. Abstract The aim of this study is to determine the organizational silence levels of English teachers in the province of Mersin and to identify whether there are significant differences in these levels based on various variables. In line with this aim, the following research questions were addressed: 1. What is the organizational silence level of English teachers? 2. Does the organizational silence level of English teachers significantly differ according to gender, seniority, educational level, and age variables? Since this study aims to identify the existing situation as it is, it is a descriptive research, and therefore, the general survey model was used. Bu araştırmanın amacı ortaokul müdürlerinin öğretmen teftişlerindeki denetim görevlerini yerine getirme düzeylerinin yeterliliğine ilişkin din kültürü ve ahlak bilgisi öğretmenlerinin görüşlerini tespit etmektir. Bu araştırmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması kullanılmıştır. Görüşme formları ile toplanan veriler betimsel analiz yöntemine göre analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular, temalar ve alt temalar şeklinde organize edilerek sunulmuştur. Amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden benzeşik örneklem tekniği ile araştırmanın çalışma grubu belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, 2023-2024 eğitim-öğretim yılında Mersin merkez ilçelerindeki ortaokullarda çalışan 32 din kültürü ve ahlak bilgisi (DKAB) öğretmeninden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre katılımcıların büyük çoğunluğu (%66’sı) okul müdürlerinin öğretmen teftişine ilişkin denetim görevlerini yerine getirme düzeyinin yetersiz olduğunu düşünmektedir. Undesirable Student Behaviours and the Proposed Solutions Within the Context of Discipline Model Based on Reality Therapy in Classroom Management: A Case Study in Turkey

This paper focuses on investigating undesirable student behaviours in classroom management at the stage of middle schools of Turkey and proposed solutions within the context of Reality Therapy. The specific objectives of the research focuses on identifying the application of Reality Therapy Discipline Model to solve problems in the class, according to teachers’ points of views and the researcher’s observations. The study relies on the method of case study and the phenomenological approach, which centers on the noted phenomenon, as well as the in-depth information that is not yet known (Yıldırım & Şimşek, 2013). The study group of the research consisted of 20 branch teachers who were voluntarily chosen and had worked in the middle schools of Ministry of National Education in Turkey, within the school year of 2019-2020. Middle School Administrators’ Perceptions about Education's Contribution to Human Capital
The purpose of this study was to analyse the middle school administrators’ perceptions about education’s contribution to human capital in terms of the variables of gender, seniority, education level and the type of the school. The data were collected from 410 school administrators working in public and private middle school, which were in Mersin Province in the fall semester of 2018-2019 academic year. It was found out that there was a significant difference among the school administrators’ perceptions in terms of the variables of gender, seniority, education level and the type of the school. This research aims to determine the relationship between school principals' cultural intelligence level and teachers' job satisfaction and intention to leave. The relational survey model was used in this study. The data of the research were collected from 800 teachers working in public middle schools in the central districts of Mersin Province in the 2020-2021 academic year. The data were collected through Personal Information Form, Cultural Intelligence Scale, Job Satisfaction Scale, and Intention to Leave Scale. The data were analyzed through correlation analysis, Structural Equation Modeling and Sobel Test. According to the results of the research, a strong, positive and significant relationship was found between the cultural intelligence level of school principals and the job satisfaction of teachers. A strong, negative, and significant relationship was determined between the cultural intelligence level of school principals and teachers' intention to leave. A strong, negative, and significant relationship was determined between teachers' job satisfaction and their intention to leave. This paper focuses on investigating whether the contents of 6th grade math lesson in the digital education platform (EBA) used in distance education in Turkey during the COVID-19 pandemic period are appropriate to the critical thinking standards. The contents of the math lesson, which are in the digital education platform (EBA) in 2020-2021 academic years, constitute the population of the study. The course contents, which belong to “Data Collection” and “Data Analysis” subtopics of 6 th grade math lesson used in Turkey’s digital education platform (EBA) in 2020-2021 academic years, constitute the sample of the study. In the study, document analysis method is used. Based on the analysis conducted, it is concluded that the learning contents, which belong to “Data Collection and Evaluation” and “Data Analysis” subtopics of 6th grade math lesson, are appropriate to clearness, accuracy, importance, sufficiency, depth, and precision standards of critical thinking. The purpose of the present study was to determine the communication barriers, the reasons and results of these barriers, and solution proposals for communication barriers faced in the context of school-parents cooperation. The case study was used in this study. The data obtained from the interview forms were analysed according to the method of descriptive analysis. The findings were presented in the form of themes and subthemes. The study group consisted of 42 teachers working in the central districts of Erzurum in the 2019-2020 academic years. According to the research results, the participants think that communication barriers in the context of school-parents cooperation are related to parents and to teachers. Most of the participants express the reasons for communication barriers resulting from parents while some of the participants express the reasons for communication barriers resulting from teachers. Abstract: This study aims to determine the opinions of high school principals on their cultural intelligence levels, to determine the activities of these principals to increase their cultural intelligence levels, the advantages of their having a high level of cultural intelligence, the factors that prevent them from increasing their cultural intelligence levels, and their suggestions to increase their cultural intelligence levels. The data obtained from the interview forms were analyzed by the content analysis method. The findings were organized and presented under themes and sub-themes. The study group of the research consisted of 40 school principals working in Mersin central districts in the 2020-2021 academic years. According to the study results; most of the participants stated that they had a high level of cultural intelligence while some participants stated that they had a low level of cultural intelligence. Inspection of School Managers’ Carrying Out Cultural Leadership Roles

This research aims to determine the degree of the school managers’ carrying out cultural leadership roles. It is a descriptive research. Data were obtained during 2016-2017 academic year from 586 school managers working in public primary schools, middle schools and high schools in the central districts of Mersin Province. Quantitative methods were employed in the study. “The Scale of School Managers’ Cultural Leadership Roles” were used in data collection process. In data analysis; the non-parametric tests were used. According to the research results; the school managers perceived that they carry out their cultural leadership roles at a high level. There is a significant difference in the degree of the school managers’ carrying out cultural leadership roles according to the variables of gender, education level and branch. Bu araştırma ile öğretmen adaylarının beraber çalışacakları okul müdürleri hakkındaki metaforik algılarının ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla nitel bir araştırma olarak düzenlenmiştir. Çalışma için iki sorudan oluşan bir görüşme formu düzenlenmiştir. Bu sorular: “1- Okul müdürünü canlı veya cansız bir varlığa, bir nesneye ya da herhangi bir şeye benzetmeniz istense mecazi olarak neye benzetirsiniz? 2- Bu benzetmenizin nedenlerini, açıklar mısınız?” dır. Bu araştırmanın verileri 2013-2014 eğitim öğretim yılında Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde öğrenim gören 4. sınıf öğrencilerinden toplanmıştır. Araştırma içerik analizi yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının okul müdürünü en çok “Baba, Aslan Anne, Diktatör, Çoban” metaforları ile ifade etmişlerdir. Analiz sonucunda öğretmen adaylarının okul müdürlerini en çok “Yöneticilik, Liderlik, Güç, Olumsuzluk ve Koruma” yönleri ile tanımlamışlardır. Okul müdürlerini Teknik bilgilere sahip bir yönetici, Grubunu etkileyebilen bir lider, yasal yetkilerinden dolayı güç unsuru olan birisi olarak tanımlamışlardır. Genel sonuç olarak öğretmen adaylarının müdürler ile ilgili düşünceleri %90 oranında olumlu olduğu görülmüştür. Anahtar Kelimeler: Okul Müdürü, Metafor, Öğretmen.
