A Sarcophagus with Busts from the Hinterland of Tarsus

The sarcophagus considered in this article is located about 30 kms north of the Tarsus city center in Sakızçukuru which is at the district of Sıraköy where an ancient settlement has been discovered. There are many houses, workshops and olive - wine production equipments in this settlement. The necropolis is located to the north of the settlement where numerous sarcophagai were found. One of them has a special importance in terms of having busts with a stele on it. The subject of this study is this sarcophagus which has not been discussed in any study yet. Here the description, the typological and iconographical comparisons as well as workshop suggestions will be undertaken.
