The deep-see decapod crustacean species sampled from trawling operations carried out in the open waters of Mersin
Bay (Coordinates: 36.24853N-34.36491E, 36.18839N-43.38847E, 36.17065N-34.40686E, and 36.07227N34.53326E) in May 2018 were identified. Samples were preserved in ethyl alcohol and were deposited in the Museum
of the Systematic, Faculty of Fisheries, Mersin University, (catalogue number: MEUDC-17-11-001, MEUDC-18-12-
010-014). In total 13 trawling operations, 6 deep-sea decapod crustacean species were caught. Plesionika edwardsii
belonging to family of Pandalidae, Polycheles typhlops belonging to Polychelidae family, Geryon longipes from
Geryonidae family, Medorippe lanata from Dorippidae family, Pasiphaea sivado from Pasiphaeidae family and
Parapenaeus longirostris from Pen...
(Enterococcus fa...
Fistularia petimba distributes in tropical and subtropical waters of Atlantic and Indo-Pacific. In this research, two
individuals belonging to F. petimba were caught in a trawl operation carried out in Mersin Bay in May 2018.
Necessary morphometric measurements were taken to prevent misconceptions in the identification of the species and
it was determined that morphometric measurements in the captured individuals were consistent with the
measurements of the specimens in the previous studies. It is believed that F. petimba entered the Northeastern
Mediterranean Sea from the Red Sea. This species is posing a threat to the Mediterranean ecosystem as a predator
and its invasion capacity is discussed

Her iki örnekleme döneminde toplam 40 adet birey sadece Mamure Kalesi’nden örneklenebilmiştir. Alyanak sulak
scripta elegans bireylerini...
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are organic compounds that are formed as a result of insufficientcombustion of organic compounds and cause pollution in the environment. While its natural resources arevolcanicactivities, forest fires, organic matter decomposition, its anthropogenic resources are fossil fuels andpetroleumderivatives. Aquatic ecosystems constitute the final discharge points of PAHs that mix with the atmosphereandsoil. The transmission of PAHs accumulated in aquatic organisms to the upper trophic zones through the foodchainistransmitted to humans by the consumption of seafood. It is known that there are more than a hundredPAHcompounds in the environment, but 16 of them are considered as priority pollutants due to their carcinogeniceffects. The Mediterranean is highly vul...
An immature specimen of the blackmouth catshark, Galeus melastomus Rafinesque, 1810, was caught by a bottom
trawl in the international waters of the Mersin Bay in May 2018. This species was recorded earlier from Israel Open
Waters, and Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean Sea. This is the third record for the southern coast of Turkey and
the first record for Mersin Bay
In the study, it was aimed to determine the morphometric measurements of Siganus rivulatus (Forsskål & Niebuhr,
1775) sampled from Mersin Bay in February 2021. The average value of some morphometric measurements of fish
from Mersin Bay (n=196) were found that the total length 17.87 ± 3.11 cm, standard length 13.88 ± 1.96 cm, fork
length 17.06 ± 1.35 cm, head length 3.60 ± 0.76 cm, eye diameter 1.08 ± 0.23 cm, interorbital distance 1.60 ± 0.34
cm, body width 2.32 ± 0.48 cm, dorsal fin base length 10.45 ± 2.19 cm, anal fin base length 6.26 ± 1.31 cm, pectoral
fin length 2.56 ± 0.53 cm and caudal peduncle height 0.78 ± 0.16 cm. The total length-weight relationship of the
species was determined as W = 0.008xTL3.16 (r2=0.973) and it was found that the fish showed positive allometric
grow...
