The effects of age and individual size on the Fatty Acids and Elemental Composition of Nemipterus randalli Russell, 1986 from Mersin Bay, Turkey

In this study, the effects of the age and individual size on total lipid content, fatty acids and elemental composition of Nemipterus randalli caught from the Mersin Bay were determined. The lipid content of all age groups was found at similar levels. However, the highest lipid level was determined in the 3+ age group (2.85%) while the lowest level was found in the 2+ age group (2.75%). Dominant fatty acids for each age group of N. randalli are palmitic acid (C16:0), stearic acid (C18:0), vaccenic acid (C18:1n7c), cetoleic acid (C22:1n11), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, C20:5n3), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, C22:6n3). Limit Values of Dissolved Nutrients for the Assessment of Eutrophication in the Northeastern Mediterranean Rivers

This study attempted to determine the limit values of dissolved nutrients for assessing trophic status and water quality of Northeastern Mediterranean Rivers from the previously published nutrient data sets. Study findings indicated that the oligotrophic river waters should have concentrations of total phosphorus, orthophosphate, ammonium and total nitrogen less than 0.13 mg/L, 0.07 mg/L, 0.11 mg/L and 0.90 mg/L, respectively. The proposed limit values defining oligotrophy, mesotrophy and eutrophy differed from those reported by the Surface Water Quality Regulation and the commonly used reference values. Effects of Clove Oil and Eugenol on Anaesthesia and Some Hematological Parameters of European Eel Anguilla anguilla, L., 1758

To investigate anaesthetic and some hematological effects of clove oil and eugenol for European eel, Anguilla anguilla, L., 1758, 0.0, 0.025, 0.05 and 0.075 mlll of clove oil or 0.0, 2.250, 3.375 and 4.500 mlll of eugenol were applied to fish (80.9528.94 g). After fish was anaesthetized, half of fishes from each group were transferred into recovery tanks (to clean water), whereas, other half was retained there for next 48h. Induction time ranged between 3 and 5 min for clove oil and 2 and 5 min for eugenol. Fish reached to slh anaesthesia stage in all experimental groups except control and the lowest concentration group of both anaesthetics. An investigation of motil aeromonads and mesophilic aerobic bacteria count in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss Walbaum, 1792) marketed in Mersin. In this study, Rainbow trout, sold at three different outlets in Mersin, were tested for motil Aeromonads, zoonose disease agents. 120 samples were collected and analysed from November 2003 to June 2004. Çalışmada kullanılan Ulva rigida örnekleri Mersin sahilinin farklı noktalarından (1. istasyon; Çamlıbel, 2. istasyon; Karaduvar, 3. istasyon; Marina, 4. istasyon; Hilton) 2016 yılında ilkbahar mevsiminde toplanmıştır. U. rigida’nın toplam yağ ve yağ asidi düzeyleri belirlenmiştir. Toplam yağ düzeyi için sırasıyla 1. istasyon %0.87, 2. istasyon %1.03, 3. istasyon %0.41, 4. istasyon %4.99 olarak bulunmuştur. Dominant doymuş yağ asitleri (SFA) palmitik asit ve stearik asittir. Antioxidant Capacity and Protein contents of Five Marine Microalgae

Antioxidant capacity, chlorophyll, marker pigment, and protein contents of four diatoms (Helicotheca tamesis, Haslea silbo, Nitzschia navis-varingica, and Asterionellopsis glacialis) and one cyanobacterium (Spirulina subsalsa) have been investigated. N. navis-varingica exhibited the highest chlorophyll a, fucoxanthin, ascorbic acid, and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) among the five species studied. Cupric-reducing antioxidant capacities of N. navis-varingica and H. silbo were higher than other species studied. In the present study, the ecological risk assessment of metal contamination in beach sediments along the Mersin coast was determined using the metal contents of beach sediments in Mersin, Kızkalesi, Susanoğlu and Taşucu region obtained between 2006 and 2009. Furthermore, the potential health risk assessment for ingestion and dermal contact pathways of adults and children was determined. Ecological risk assessment of heavy metals showed that there is no pollution in the beach sediments for the metals Cu, Pb and Zn for the all studied coasts. Marsh frogs (Pelophylax ridibundus) are preferred in European cuisine. In recent years, interest in farming of marsh frogs has increased, but little is known about their bacterial diseases. This research was carried out in a marsh frog farming operation in Mersin, Turkey, in order to determine the bacterial diversity. Bu araştırma turunç (Citrus aurantium) meyve kabuğu ve yaprak uçucu yağlarının biyo-yararlılığnın belirlenmesi amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Bu amaçlarla Şubat-Nisan 2020’de turunç ağaçlarının meyveleri ve yaprakları toplanarak hidrodistilasyon yöntemiyle uçucu yağları elde edilmiştir. Effects of Diazinon on 17β-estradiol, Plasma Vitellogenin and Liver and Gonad Tissues of Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio, L., 1758)

Both sexes of Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) exposed to sublethal concentrations (0.488 mg/L and 0.976 mg/L) of the widely used insecticide diazinon for a period of 7, 15, 30 days and effects on plasma 17β-estradiol (E2), vitellogenin (VTG), gonad and liver tissues were examined. In male carps, 0.488 mg/L and 0.976 mg/L diazinon elevated E2 levels following on the 7, 15 and 30 days. Both concentrations of diazinon elevated VTG levels after 15 days in males. In female carps, 0.976 mg/L diazinon elevated E2 levels after 30 days. However, 0.488 mg/L and 0.976 mg/L diazinon reduced VTG levels in female carps, at the end of experiment. In the study, it was aimed to determine the morphometric measurements of Siganus rivulatus (Forsskål & Niebuhr, 1775) sampled from Mersin Bay in February 2021. Mersin ilinde faaliyet gösteren yedi Gökkuşağı alabalığı işletmesinde bir yıl süreyle 260 adet farklı büyüklüklerde balık örneği ve 56 adet su örneği Gram pozitif bakteri florası açısından klasik izolasyon ve identifikasyon yöntemleriyle incelenmiştir. İzolatların identifikasyonu ticari ID32Strep hızlı kiti (BioMerieux) ile yapılmıştır.
