Son yıllarda dijital medyaya artan ilgiye karşın geleneksel kitle iletişim araçları ve özellikle televizyon afetler sırasında temel haber kaynağı olma özelliğini korumaktadır. Bu makalede bir kriz anı olarak kabul edebileceğimiz İzmir depremi sırasında ve sonrasındaki bir aylık sürede farklı haber mecralarında yayınlanan deprem haberlerine odaklanılmış; haberlerde yoğun olarak tartışılan konuları, haber aktörlerini ve kaynaklarını bir içerik analizi ile ortaya koymayı, ayrıca haberlerde gazetecilik etiği bağlamında ne tür ihlaller görüldüğünü kriz haberciliği ilkeleri göz önünde bulundurularak tartışmayı amaçlamıştır. Tarih boyunca gerçeğe ulaşma çabası içerisinde olan insanlık, bu sorunsalına çağlar boyunca değişen ve gelişen anlatılar ve araçlar ile yanıtlar aramıştır. Gerçeğin görüntüsel doğasına dair algısal bir katmanın ortaya çıkarılmasında önemli yeri olan stereoskopik teknolojiler, 1800’lerin ilk yarısında üç boyutlu fotoğraf uygulamaları ile geliştirilmeye başlamıştır. Yeni bir tür öyküleme potansiyeline sahip derinlik içeren görüntülerin sinemanın anlatı evrenine eklemlenmesi ise 1950’li yıllarda gerçekleşmiştir. Üç boyutlu filmlerin altın çağı olarak anılan bu dönemde stereoskopik filmler, sanatsal dürtülerden çok sinema endüstrisinin ekonomik şartları dolayımında şekillendirilmişlerdir.
