Smart Cities in the Global Context: Geographical Analyses of Regional Differentiations

The increasing urbanisation and technological advancements have driven the global adoption of smart city initiatives, yet regional differences persist due to economic, social, and technological disparities. Despite the numerous studies on smart cities, there remains a research gap in comprehensive global analyses exploring regional differentiations in smart city development. This study aims to examine how smart cities differentiate, especially through associations between regions and smart city dimensions. 6 Şubat 2023 Kahramanmaraş depremleri sonrasında, birçok depremzede, yakınlarını kaybetmiş, evleri hasar görmüş ve yaşadıkları kentleri terk etmek zorunda kalmıştır. Mersin ise deprem bölgesine yakınlığı nedeniyle en yoğun göç alan şehirlerden biri olmuştur. Deprem sonrası ihtiyaçların karşılanması amacıyla hükümet, yerel yönetimler, sivil toplum kuruluşları ve gönüllüler yoğun çaba göstermiştir. Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi de açtığı barınma merkezleriyle bu çabalara katkıda bulunmuştur. Bu çalışma, 2023 yılının Mayıs ayında Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi’nin barınma merkezlerinde kalan 216 depremzede ile yapılan anket çalışması ve saha gözlemlerine dayanmaktadır. İnsanlığın yerleşik hayata geçmesinden günümüze kadar olan dönemde kentler; farklı toplumlar, mekânsal müdahaleler ve yaklaşımlar nedeniyle dinamik yapılarını korumuşlardır. Antik kent yerleşmelerinin organik yapısı, ortaçağda surlarla çevrili kent, sanayi döneminde kent sınırlarının büyümesi ve küresel çağda fiziki sınırların ortadan kalkması, günümüz kentlerinin kaotik yapısı; oluşumları süresince kentlerin niteliklerini ortaya çıkarmıştır. Bu araştırmanın temel amacı İzmir Metro sistemi çevresinde meydana gelen mekânsal değişim ve gelişimle birlikte demografik değişimlerin incelenmesi ve planlama pratiğinin yerinin irdelenmesidir. Bu kapsamda metro hattının 1000 metrelik etki alanı içinde gerçekleştirilen plan tadilatları ve kent bütününde yarattığı demografik ve çevresel etkiler incelenmiş, metro hattının inşasıyla aralarındaki ilişki analiz edilmiştir. In addition to the physical characteristics of the housing; spatial features such as the distance of the housing to the city center, work and educational areas, public transportation stops also play an important role in the selection of housing. Mapping 25 Years of Urban Morphology Research: Co-Citation Analysis

Urban morphology, as a discipline, focuses on analyzing the structural components of urban space and how these components come together, often in response to user needs. This study aims to identify the scientific trends and thematic trajectories in urban morphology by analyzing 1073 publications indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database between 2000 and 2025. Co-citation analysis, one of the bibliometric techniques, was conducted using the CiteSpace software. This method allows for the identification of thematic clusters within the urban morphology literature, the key publications representing these clusters, and the temporal relationships among them. Depremler başta olmak üzere herhangi bir afet anında meydana gelen kayıplar, kentsel dokunun tasarımı ile yakından ilişkilidir. Bu çalışma, 17 Ağustos ve 12 Kasım 1999 Doğu Marmara Depremleri sonrası yeni bir kent üst biçiminin ortaya çıktığı Adapazarı’nda; farklı düzeylerde gerçekleştirilen morfolojik analizleri, kentsel dokuyu meydana getiren fiziksel ölçütler bağlamında ele almaktadır.
